Boyscouts

Boy Scouts of America
West Jackson Baptist Church is the Charter Organization for both Boy Scout Troop 100 and Cub Scout Pack 100. Both Pack 100 and Troop 100 are chartered to the Boy Scouts of America, West Tennessee Area Council and exists to develop strong values in each boy by honoring home, school and church as the origin of our youth’s values.

Cub Scout Pack 100
The Cub Scout program is for boys from Kindergarten through 5th grade. Cub Scouting activities involve the parents, adult leaders and friends of the scouts in home centered programs. The boys belong to a “den” that includes boys of the same age and grade. The Cub Scout progresses in rank from Tiger Cub, Wolf, Bear and two years of Webelos. A boy may join at whatever age and will be associated with boys in the same age group. The Cub Scout activities include many individual projects and group functions with the Pack or Den. There are outings, craft projects and some outdoor opportunities during the year. Many patches, pins, segments and other items can be earned through participation and may be worn on the Cub Scout uniform during den, pack and community service projects.

Boy Scout Troop 100
The Boy Scout Program is for older boys, from 5th grade to 18 years of age. The Boy Scout program encourages boys to develop physical, emotional and mental fitness and to adopt meaningful personal standards as a cornerstone for their success in life. The Boy Scout program groups the boys in “Patrols” and the boys select a unique mascot for their patrol. Each patrol has a Scout who is a “Patrol Leader” who works with other Patrol Leaders, the Scout Master and the Parent Committee to coordinate the various functions during the year. Each individual Scout advances in rank through Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star, Life and Eagle Scout at his own pace and is recognized at “Court of Honor” ceremonies that are scheduled during the year. Scouts in Troop 100 are currently active in outdoor camping, hiking, biking, leadership, merit-badge and community service functions throughout the year.
